The Sanctuary Tobacco Shop was established in 1973 in downtown San Luis Obispo. The shop languished for years until the current owner, Doug Shaw purchased it in 1992. The store was remodeled a year later to bring out the character of the century old building. We exposed the brick walls, introduced rich hard woods, and refinished the wood floor. Our focus is now more balanced between pipes and cigars. At this time we also added a lounge/loft. Owner, Doug Shaw cut his teeth in the business with Hilands Tobacco Locker in 1972.
